Kuzi Cee Continues to Carve Out his Lane in R&B With ‘Frequency’
Kuzi Cee returns with “Frequency,” out today via Universal Music Canada, offering an early glimpse at the next phase of his artistry. The release follows a year of growing momentum for the Zimbabwe-born, Calgary-based R&B singer-songwriter, including “Rather Be” reaching #16 at Canadian Top 40 radio and being named to Rolling Stone Canada’s 2026 Future of Music list.
On “Frequency,” Kuzi sounds more direct and self-assured than ever. Centred on chemistry, attraction and two people fully in sync, the track brings a bolder edge to his songwriting and vocal performance.
“I come from a very R&B-loving family, and since I made this song, anytime I go home or we have a family function, it’s the first request for the party – and it’s doing LAPS,” says Kuzi. “’Frequency’ carries so much nostalgia for me. I wanted to make a record that encompasses everything I love about 2000s R&B: the drums, the catchy hook and, of course, A BRIDGE WITH A KEY CHANGE! At its core, the song is really simple: tonight I want you and everything about you. When we match each other’s vibe and energy, there’s nothing that can beat that. I’m so excited for the world to hear this one.”
Produced by Aeon Wang and mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Teezio, “Frequency” continues a run of releases that is bringing Kuzi’s sound and perspective into sharper focus.
Beyond the studio, Kuzi has continued to expand his presence throughout 2026, with performances at the FIFA Fan Festival, Calgary Stampede and KDays, following previous appearances at SXSW and The Great Escape.
