The renewed focus on diplomacy sent relief through the global markets, with European and Asian markets also rising on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oil&#8217;s sharp retreat at the Monday open did more than knock a few dollars off the barrel. It loosened the geopolitical knot that had been tightening around equities, currencies, bonds and central banks for most of July,&#8221; Stephen Innes of SPI Asset Management said in a commentary.<\/p>\n<p>Waltz said on &#8220;Face the Nation&#8221; that the pause in Middle East fighting is giving diplomacy &#8220;a little bit of time&#8221; to work, although he added that more U.S. military assets are still &#8220;moving into the region.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian regime insisted Monday that it is not engaged in any direct talks with the U.S. But after<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/live-updates\/iran-war-us-trump-strait-hormuz-middle-east\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">\u00a0three nights of relative calm<\/a><\/span>, it acknowledged ongoing talks with Oman aimed at establishing &#8220;mechanisms regarding maritime traffic&#8221; in the Strait of Hormuz.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recent surges in energy prices and <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-tariff-rates-60-countries-forced-labor\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">fresh tariffs<\/a><\/span> announced last week by the Trump administration could result in hotter inflation, complicating the outlook for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/warsh-federal-reserve-inflation-4a1da547d64ae3d54fba29161b213601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve&#8217;s interest rate policy<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the Fed is expected to leave interest rates unchanged at its latest\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/fed-interest-rate-decision-july-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">meeting on Wednesday<\/a><\/span>, rising oil prices have
