The video game company, based in Grapevine, Texas, already has a 5% stake in eBay.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/s205.q4cdn.com\/272884106\/files\/doc_downloads\/2026\/05\/Offer-Letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a>\u00a0to eBay&#8217;s chairman of the board that it has received a commitment from TD Securities to contribute $20 billion to help fund the deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>eBay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/ebay-confirms-receipt-of-unsolicited-proposal-from-gamestop-302761245.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0on Monday that it will &#8220;carefully review and consider the unsolicited proposal to determine the course of action that it believes is in the best interests of the company and all eBay shareholders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal, which first reported GameStop&#8217;s offer for eBay, said Cohen is prepared to launch a hostile bid if eBay rejects the deal. EBay could be a &#8220;legit competitor to Amazon,&#8221; Cohen said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/deals\/gamestop-ebay-bid-fd330f5a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comments<\/a> to the Journal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;EBay should be worth \u2014 and will be worth \u2014 a lot more money,&#8221; he told the paper. &#8220;I&#8217;m thinking about turning eBay into something worth hundreds of billions of dollars.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>GameStop has a market capitalization of nearly $12 billion and is far smaller than eBay, which is valued at around $49 billion.<\/p>\n<p>GameStop shares fell in early trading on Monday, dropping 2% to $26.
