The citizens of Hanceville deserve to have public safety,&#8221; Crocker said.<\/p>\n<p>The city council will meet Feb. 27 to discuss the future of the police department, the mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>Hanceville is a city of 3,200 people about 45 miles north of Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>The police department had a total of eight officers as of August, according to The Cullman Times.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime Hanceville resident Mike Calvert\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs42.com\/news\/hanceville-community-members-share-mixed-reaction-to-hanceville-officer-arrests\/\"
