Another argued that a &#8220;performance&#8221; does not exclusively mean singing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Polymarket did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Kalshi also faced a backlash from some users over the halftime show. In the complaint with the CFTC, one user \u2014 who purchased a &#8220;yes&#8221; contract \u2014 said that as a result of Kalshi&#8217;s decision to settle the market price at the mid-trading value, they received $1,300 instead of $5,000. The user is seeking $3,700 in reparations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In response, one user filed a complaint with the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), first reported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nexteventhorizon.substack.com\/p\/did-cardi-b-perform-during-the-super\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Event Horizon newsletter<\/a>\u00a0and posted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1bzreJstwpCVtG-AHyiqiB4qmnWwGGp7n\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Front Office Sports<\/a>. The user, who purchased a &#8220;yes&#8221; contract, claims\u00a0that as a result of Kalshi&#8217;s decision to settle the market price at the mid-trading value, they received $1,300 instead of $5,000. The user is seeking $3,700 in compensation.<\/p>\n<p>CFTC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The rules were clear. Under the full rules, singing and dancing counted as a performance, but just dancing in the background did not,&#8221; a Kalshi spokesperson said in an email to CBS News. &#8220;In the as-broadcast performance, Cardi B was dancing and mouthing words to the song, but it was unclear if she was &#8216;singing&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the day of the Super Bowl, Kalshi reported a daily record high of more than $1 billion in trading across its site, up 2,700% from last year.<\/p>\n<p>Wagering on sports events has faced some pushback from states including Connecticut, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/dcp\/news-releases-from-the-department-of-consumer-protection\/2025-news-releases\/connecticut-consumer-protection-orders-cease-and-desist-conducting-unlicensed-online-gambling?language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">arguing<\/a> that platforms offering &#8220;sports events contracts&#8221; are illegal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some regulators, however, appear to be shifting their stances. In late January, CFTC Chair Michael Selig\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/PressRoom\/SpeechesTestimony\/opaselig1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">directed<\/a>\u00a0the agency to withdraw a\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/prediction-markets-2026-super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">2024 rule proposal<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that sought to prohibit political and sports-related contracts.
