Big majorities feel it&#8217;s harder today to buy a house, get a good job, or raise a family than it was for previous generations \u2014 including for today&#8217;s young people.<\/p>\n<p>But more immediately for Americans and their wallets now, the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/price-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">view that prices are rising<\/a><\/span> isn&#8217;t quite as widespread as it was this fall, so some of the public is starting to see the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cpi-report-today-inflation-december-2025-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">inflation<\/a><\/span> rate stabilizing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Financial differences describe different choices about spending going forward, too.<\/p>\n<p>Those in lower-income tiers are often cutting back, and say <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/utility-rate-hikes-higher-bills-56-million-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">utility costs<\/a><\/span> have hit them hard of late.
