The security camera clip was recorded in the Sde Teiman military detention center, and the IDF has not disputed its authenticity. It shows Israeli soldiers carrying a blindfolded detainee behind a wall of personal shields seemingly formed by other soldiers to obscure the view of the security cameras.<\/p>\n<p>Following the release of the video, five Israeli soldiers were arrested and charged with aggravated battery for severe injury to a detainee in their custody.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a document detailing the charges, the soldiers kicked, dragged, stepped on and tasered the detainee. The Palestinian man was admitted to a hospital with fractured ribs, a punctured lung and a rectal tear after the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The investigation into the alleged attack is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>The arrests prompted angry demonstrations in support of the accused soldiers, notably with a <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/israel-hamas-war-idf-palestinian-prisoner-alleged-rape-sde-teinman-abuse-protest\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">crowd gathering and breaking into the Sde Teiman facility<\/a><\/span>. Israeli media said three members of Israel&#8217;s parliament, the Knesset, were present at that protest. The United Nations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/ohchr-press-release-17sep25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said in September<\/a> that at least 75 Palestinians had died in Israeli detention since the war in Gaza was sparked by Hamas&#8217; Oct. 7 attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some far-right members of the Israeli government have vowed to make the country&#8217;s detention centers less hospitable, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who is in charge of prisons in the country, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ap.org\/news-highlights\/spotlights\/2024\/released-palestinians-describe-worsening-abuses-in-israeli-prisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">who vowed<\/a> they
