That opens new opportunities both for homebuyers previously stuck on the sidelines waiting for rates to become more affordable and homeowners looking to refinance their high rates.<\/p>\n<p>However, just because <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/what-are-todays-mortgage-and-mortgage-refinance-interest-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">mortgage rates<\/a><\/span> are the lowest they&#8217;ve been since 2022, it doesn&#8217;t automatically make them worth pursuing. If buyers can find ways to get a rate even lower than that 6.13%, however, even in the high 5% range, it may be worth acting. Fortunately, there are ways in which buyers can do just that. Have you been saving a lot of money in the interim? If so, consider making a large down payment on your home of more than the traditional 20% lenders require without <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/what-is-private-mortgage-insurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">private mortgage insurance<\/a><\/span> being tacked on.
