He has been held without bail since.<\/p>\n<p>In September, lawyers for Mangione asked that his federal charges be dismissed and the death penalty be <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/minnesota\/news\/luigi-mangiones-lawyers-want-death-penalty-off-the-table-in-unitedhealthcare-ceo-murder-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">taken off the table<\/a><\/span> as a result of public comments by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. The words mimic a phrase used by insurance industry critics.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async
