Further testing confirmed the lesion was\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/basal-cell-carcinoma-what-to-know-following-bidens-treatment\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">basal cell carcinoma<\/a><\/span>, the most common form of skin cancer. The White House physician said at the time that &#8220;all cancerous tissue was successfully removed.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Separately, earlier this year, Biden&#8217;s office said he had been <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/joe-biden-diagnosed-prostate-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">diagnosed<\/a><\/span> with an &#8220;aggressive form&#8221; of\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/biden-prostate-cancer-testing-how-it-spreads\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">prostate cancer<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that had spread to his bones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>What is Mohs surgery?\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Mohs surgery is a precise technique in which a doctor removes a thin layer of tissue and analyzes it under a microscope for cancer cells, according to the Mayo Clinic. The process is repeated until the tissue samples are cancer-free.
