{"id":45033,"date":"2025-08-30T07:44:52","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T07:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/worldnews\/cvs-and-walgreens-limit-access-to-covid-vaccines-as-required-by-some-state-guidelines\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T07:44:52","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T07:44:52","slug":"cvs-and-walgreens-limit-access-to-covid-vaccines-as-required-by-some-state-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/worldnews\/cvs-and-walgreens-limit-access-to-covid-vaccines-as-required-by-some-state-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"CVS and Walgreens limit access to COVID vaccines as required by some state guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- ItShrt World News -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"1882483372\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>CVS and Walgreens are now requiring a prescription or are not offering COVID-19 vaccines in some states as the companies attempt to follow state guidelines that require approvals from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-fda-revokes-pfizer-emergency-authorization\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">has approved<\/a><\/span> vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax for all seniors, but only for younger adults and children with health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, CVS said the pharmacy chain cannot vaccinate those even with a prescription in Massachusetts, Nevada and New Mexico due to state laws and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Based on the current regulatory environment,&#8221; CVS said it&#8217;s offering COVID-19 vaccinations in the following states: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CVS said the list of states offering COVID-19 vaccines without a prescription may change at any time.<\/p>\n<p>In the other 16 states, CVS said it can administer a COVID-19 vaccination, depending on the patient&#8217;s age, with an authorized prescriber&#8217;s prescription.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Walgreens said, &#8220;With the recent FDA approval of the 2025\u20132026 COVID-19 vaccine, Walgreens is prepared to offer the vaccine in states where we are able to do so.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The FDA&#8217;s decision to end emergency authorization for the Pfizer vaccine for children under 5 will limit vaccine choices for younger children, leaving the Moderna vaccine as the only vaccine available for those 6 months to 4 years old with at least one health condition. Last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics released\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/medical-organizations-kicked-out-cdc-vaccine-workgroups-acip\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">vaccine recommendations<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that, for the first time in 30 years, differ from U.S. government advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/publications.aap.org\/redbook\/resources\/15585?_gl=1*x6sa7g*_ga*NzAzODcyMjAyLjE3NTU2MDg3MzY.*_ga_FD9D3XZVQQ*czE3NTU2MDg3MzYkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTU2MDg3NjIkajM0JGwwJGgw*_gcl_au*NTkzNjQ2NDkxLjE3NTU2MDg3NTM.*_ga_GMZCQS1K47*czE3NTU2MDg3NTQkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTU2MDg3NjIkajUyJGwwJGgw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the guidance<\/a> published Aug. 19, the AAP said it&#8217;s &#8220;strongly recommending&#8221; COVID-19 shots for children ages 6 months to 2 years old. However, the CDC doesn&#8217;t recommend COVID-19 shots for healthy children of any age, but instead says\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cdc-kids-covid-19-vaccine-recommendation\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">kids may get the shots<\/a><\/span> in consultation with a physician.<\/p>\n<p
