{"id":43335,"date":"2025-08-12T21:23:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:23:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/worldnews\/skin-cleansing-soaps-foams-lotion-recalled-over-possible-serious-and-life-threatening-infections\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T21:23:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:23:46","slug":"skin-cleansing-soaps-foams-lotion-recalled-over-possible-serious-and-life-threatening-infections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/worldnews\/skin-cleansing-soaps-foams-lotion-recalled-over-possible-serious-and-life-threatening-infections\/","title":{"rendered":"Skin-cleansing soaps, foams, lotion recalled over possible &#8220;serious and life-threatening infections&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- ItShrt World News -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"1882483372\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>A U.S. company that makes health care products is recalling four over-the-counter skin cleansers and an anti-itch lotion it says could lead to &#8220;serious and life-threatening infections.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey-based DermaRite Industries\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/voluntary-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> on Friday that it was voluntarily recalling the health care products due to the fact that they may cause a microbial contamination known as Burkholderia cepecia, which may result in adverse reactions, particularly in immunocompromised individuals.<\/p>\n<p>In a company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/voluntary-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">statement<\/a>, DermaRite said the contaminated products &#8220;may be used by immunosuppressed individuals or by people who are attending to these individuals.&#8221; The recall notice was also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/dermarite-industries-issues-voluntary-nationwide-recall-dermakleen-dermasarra-kleenfoam-and#recall-photos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared<\/a> by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms for Burkholderia Cepecia Complex can range from fever and fatigue to serious respiratory infections,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/b-cepacia\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according<\/a> to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In healthy individuals with minor skin lesions the use of the product will more likely result in local infections, whereas in immunocompromised individuals the infection is more likely to spread into blood stream leading to life-threatening sepsis,&#8221; the company said in its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/voluntary-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">notice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">website<\/a>, DermaRite creates wound care products, cleansers, moisturizers, hand soaps and other items for patients and caregivers operating in health care settings.<\/p>\n<p>DermaRite said it has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.
