Some of the earthquakes were too small to even locate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Earthquakes are too small to be felt at the surface and will likely continue for several days,&#8221; the observatory said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/observatories\/cvo\/news\/monitoring-stations-detect-small-magnitude-earthquakes-mount-rainier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">news release<\/a> Tuesday. &#8220;There would be no damage caused by such small events.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The last time Mount Rainier saw a large swarm was over a three-day period in 2009, when 1,000 earthquakes hit, with the largest being a magnitude 2.3.<\/p>\n<p>Swarms usually occur once or twice a year, but they are not usually comprised of so many earthquakes, the observatory said.
