his view that the central bank should keep interest rates steady for now, citing inflation risks from U.S. tariffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Powell, who made his remarks in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/newsevents\/testimony\/powell20250624a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">prepared testimony<\/a>\u00a0Tuesday before the House Committee on Financial Services, has been <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-says-maybe-try-to-fire-federal-reserve-jerome-powell-interest-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">under pressure from President Trump<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to cut rates, which would make it cheaper for consumers and businesses to borrow money.
