We wish them well in all their future endeavors,&#8221; the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not clear if the four attorneys&#8217; departures from Paul Weiss are related to the firm&#8217;s agreement with Mr. Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Dunn co-chaired Paul Weiss&#8217;s litigation department, where she is known for representing high-profile clients like <a href=\"https:\/\/law.yale.edu\/yls-today\/news\/when-legal-services-are-free-impact-priceless\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Apple and Google<\/a>. She&#8217;s also known for her longstanding role in Democratic politics, and has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paulweiss.com\/professionals\/partners-and-counsel\/karen-l-dunn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">helped lead debate preparations<\/a> for Democratic candidates for over a decade \u2014 including for former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/06\/us\/politics\/karen-dunn-harris-debate-prep.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a> last year, The New York Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Rhee \u2014 who served as managing partner of Paul Weiss&#8217;s office in Washington, D.C. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/law.yale.edu\/yls-today\/news\/jeannie-s-rhee-97-giving-back-many-ways\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">previously worked<\/a> on Special Counsel Robert Mueller&#8217;s team investigating possible Russian interference in the 2016 election. The move was part of a wider gambit to punish the president&#8217;s foes in the legal community, which he claims have &#8220;played an outsized role in undermining the judicial process and in the destruction of bedrock American principles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The president&#8217;s executive order criticized Paul Weiss for employing Mark Pomerantz, who previously worked on the team of Manhattan prosecutors that investigated Mr. Trump. It also took aim at the firm \u2014 and Rhee \u2014 for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oag.dc.gov\/release\/ag-racine-files-lawsuit-hold-january-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">taking on a pro bono case<\/a>\u00a0involving the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and criticized Paul Weiss&#8217; diversity, equity and inclusion policies.<\/p>\n<p>But that order was later rescinded by Mr. Trump, who <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114197044617921519\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a> Paul Weiss had agreed to a litany of compromises, like auditing its hiring practices and dedicating $40 million to pro bono legal services on causes that both the firm and the Trump administration agree upon.<\/p>\n<p>The apparent deal between the president and Paul Weiss \u2014 along with similar deals struck by other law firms threatened by Mr. Trump \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/03\/25\/opinion\/trump-paul-weiss-lawyers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">proved controversial<\/a> in the legal community.<\/p>\n<p>Some other law firms <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trumps-big-law-firms-retribution\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">chose to sue<\/a><\/span> the administration, arguing the orders were unconstitutional.
