A second <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/darglobal.co.uk\/trump-tower-jeddah\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">high-end residential tower<\/a> in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Two <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/static.worldlibertyfinancial.com\/docs\/intl\/gold-paper.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cryptocurrency<\/a> ventures <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/gettrumpmemes.com\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">based<\/a> in the United States. In many cases these new deals promoted over the last week will personally benefit not only Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., but also President Trump himself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\"><a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/newsgraphics\/documenttools\/97d0c747ddfd1bc8\/41f8afbe-full.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cChallenge everything,\u201d said the brochure<\/a> for the new $1 billion, 80-story Trump International Hotel and Tower planned for Dubai, where units went on sale for the first time at prices reaching <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/newsgraphics\/documenttools\/029f00590df6de8e\/1ad9fa1d-full.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">$20 million apiece<\/a>, after a giant party held in Dubai this past week to honor Eric Trump and the new project. \u201cStop at nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-2\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The marathon of deal making has been so rapid that many elements have drawn limited public attention in the United States, despite most of it being out in the open. That is in part because the sons appeared before mostly fawning crowds but also because <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/05\/02\/us\/politics\/trump-harvard-tax-exempt-status.html\" title=\"\">President Trump<\/a>, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/05\/02\/us\/politics\/mike-waltz-signal-photo.html\" title=\"\">his appointees<\/a> and his <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/05\/02\/us\/politics\/elon-musk-spacex-trump-budget.html\" title=\"\">billionaire adviser Elon Musk<\/a> were making headlines with their own steady stream of norm-breaking controversies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThere\u2019s nothing like it,\u201d said Douglas Brinkley, a Rice University historian who has written books on Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald R. Ford, addressing the financial conflicts of interest that have emerged in Mr. Trump\u2019s second term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Both Trump sons are involved in a wide range of family business ventures. Eric Trump, the president\u2019s middle son, runs the Trump Organization, the main family business, which specializes in real estate. He also serves on the board of a holding company that oversees World Liberty Financial, the family\u2019s crypto firm, and recently joined forces with his older brother, Donald Trump Jr., to <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/03\/31\/business\/trump-bitcoin-mining.html\" title=\"\">start a Bitcoin mining operation, American Bitcoin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The White House has said there are no ethics issues because Mr. Trump\u2019s sons run the businesses. \u201cThe president\u2019s assets are in a trust managed by his children,\u201d Anna Kelly, a White House spokeswoman, said. \u201cThere are no conflicts of interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">But Mr. Trump\u2019s <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.citizensforethics.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Candidate-Report-Donald-J.-Trump-2024-Part-6.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">financial disclosure report,<\/a> which he is legally required to file, shows that he still personally benefits financially from most of these ventures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-3\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Eric Trump noted that many of the ventures they are promoting \u2014 from crypto to real estate \u2014 were underway before their father was re-elected. \u201cWe are building the most iconic projects on earth and leading the way in the digital revolution,\u201d Eric Trump said in a statement to The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Donald Trump Jr. rejected any suggestion that he was trading on his father\u2019s name, saying he has been a businessman his entire adult life. He then took a swipe at Hunter Biden, who sold paintings while <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/25\/arts\/design\/hunter-biden-art-market.html\" title=\"\">his father, Joseph R. Biden Jr., served as president<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cIt\u2019s laughable that the left-wing media thinks that I should lock myself in a padded room while my father is president and cease doing what I\u2019ve been doing for over 25 years to earn a living and provide for my five children,\u201d Donald Trump Jr. said in a statement to The Times. \u201cHowever, if I did do that, I guess I could always take up painting, which I hear can be quite lucrative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Indeed, relatives of other presidents \u2014 including Billy Carter (brother of President Jimmy Carter) and Neil Bush (brother of President George W. Bush), along with Hunter Biden \u2014 have had business dealings that have created questions about potential conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">What distinguishes the work of Mr. Trump\u2019s two sons is that several of these ventures, including the real estate deals and crypto efforts, bring revenues that benefit the president himself as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-4\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Just in the past 10 days, Donald Trump Jr. made stops in Hungary, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/us\/american-politics\/article\/europes-disgraced-politicians-and-moguls-line-up-to-meet-trump-jr-gfw6s59rc\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Romania<\/a>, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DI6vTarsFuD\/?locale=undefined\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Serbia<\/a> and Bulgaria on a paid-speech tour he has called \u201cTrump Business Vision 2025,\u201d which also included visits with <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bocskairadio.org\/donald-trump-jr-szijjarto-peterrel-talalkozott-budapesten\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">foreign government<\/a> leaders <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DI6vTarsFuD\/?locale=undefined\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">and<\/a> political <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/us\/american-politics\/article\/europes-disgraced-politicians-and-moguls-line-up-to-meet-trump-jr-gfw6s59rc\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">candidates.<\/a> During roughly the same time, Eric Trump was shuttling among Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and other Middle East spots to push the family\u2019s real estate and crypto plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">These pitches played out even as some of Donald Trump Jr.\u2019s<span class=\"css-8l6xbc evw5hdy0\">  <\/span>business partners were simultaneously rolling out yet another business in Washington that will cash in on his father\u2019s return to the White House: a club called Executive Branch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">At $500,000 a person, the private membership club is slated to open by this summer in Georgetown in a sprawling, but defunct, restaurant called <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/b66harrison.viewin360.co\/share\/collection\/7F5Mp?fs=1&amp;info=0&amp;logo=-1&amp;sd=1&amp;thumbs=-1&amp;vr=1\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Clubhouse<\/a>. It will feature two bars, a lounge, a restaurant and boardroom \u2014 re-creating the role previously served by the lobby of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, where donors and acolytes of the president gathered until the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/11\/us\/politics\/trump-hotel-sale-washington.html\" title=\"\">family sold it off<\/a> after Mr. Trump\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-5\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The club soon likely will be jammed with Trump family friends, business executives and members of the Trump administration, but will be off limits to members of the public and most members of the news media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-6\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">An A-list party was held late last month to celebrate the launch of Executive Branch \u2014 while Donald Trump Jr. was in Europe \u2014 at a hotel a block from the White House. Attendees included Pam Bondi, the attorney general, and Paul Atkins, the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The founding members of the club, which has already sold many of its membership slots according to organizers, include Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the cryptocurrency executives whose company, Gemini Trust, had been <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2023-7\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">targeted by the S.E.C<\/a>. until Mr. Trump named new agency leaders, who in April <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.592343\/gov.uscourts.nysd.592343.75.0.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">put a hold on the federal lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Jeff Miller, a lobbyist and top Trump fund-raiser, is another founding member. The investments for 1789 Capital have included companies such as Plaid, a digital finance firm that had lobbied the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau related to a new <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consumerfinance.gov\/about-us\/newsroom\/cfpb-finalizes-personal-financial-data-rights-rule-to-boost-competition-protect-privacy-and-give-families-more-choice-in-financial-services\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">set of banking rules<\/a> \u2014 until Mr. Trump\u2019s team effectively shut down the agency and stalled enforcement of the regulation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-7\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">David Sacks, who is a crypto adviser to Mr. Trump and another founding member, said the goal is not to create a venue for access. Investors in the $Trump memecoin are bidding to become the top 220 owners of the collectible coin and win a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/23\/technology\/trump-private-dinner-crypto-memecoin.html\" title=\"\">dinner<\/a> with the president later this month. A memecoin is a type of cryptocurrency based on an online joke or celebrity mascot that has no practical function other than speculation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The $Trump memecoin is controlled by a company run by the Trump sons and their business partners, but President Trump has actively encouraged his supporters to buy it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Javier Selgas, chief executive at Fr8Tech, a shipping company, announced this past week \u2014 while Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. were abroad \u2014 that his Monterrey, Mexico-based company would spend $20 million to buy $Trump memecoin tokens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Buying the tokens \u2014 in essence, giving money to the Trump family \u2014 is \u201can effective way to advocate for fair, balanced and free trade between Mexico and the U.S.,\u201d Mr. Selgas said in a statement, which was also <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/sec.irpass.cc\/3005\/0001641172-25-007246.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">filed with the S.E.C.<\/a>, as his company is publicly traded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-9\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In some cases, the Trump-family announcements over the past week have involved foreign governments, including those of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Eric Trump flew to Doha, the capital of the tiny Middle East nation of Qatar, on Wednesday as a government official there signed a deal with a Saudi-based real estate company to build a new <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/30\/world\/middleeast\/trump-family-qatar-dubai.html\" title=\"\">Trump golf course and luxury villa complex<\/a>, a partnership that will bring millions of dollars in branding and management fees to the Trump family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">This is one of six real-estate projects now planned in the Middle East, sponsored by Dar Global, the international subsidiary of a Saudi-based real estate firm with close ties to the Saudi royal family. The other projects are in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Dubai.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThey always arrive at the word \u2018yes,\u2019 which is a beautiful thing,\u201d Eric Trump said while in Dubai this past week, saying that it took only a month to get the required real estate permits from the government there. \u201cThey do it quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On a crypto conference panel in Dubai, Eric Trump sat next to Zach Witkoff, one of the founders of the Trump family crypto firm, World Liberty Financial, who announced that <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/05\/01\/us\/politics\/trump-cryptocurrency-usd1-dubai-conference-announcement.html\" title=\"\">a venture capital firm backed by the government of Abu Dhabi would invest $2 billion<\/a> using a form of digital currency offered by World Liberty.<span class=\"css-8l6xbc evw5hdy0\">  <\/span>This deal alone could generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the Trump family and its partners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-10\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Donald Trump Jr. had gotten a head start on his brother, arriving on April 25 in Budapest, where he had a brief meeting with Hungary\u2019s foreign minister, Peter Szijjarto, and then was paid to appear at a dinner gathering among business leaders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\"><strong class=\"css-8qgvsz ebyp5n10\">\u201c<\/strong>I\u2019m just here as a business guy, but as someone who understands how the world works,\u201d Donald Trump Jr. told an executive from Portfolio Hungary, the organization that sponsored the event, adding that while he was in Eastern Europe and the Balkans he was looking for possible new deals. \u201cYou never know if there is going to be a Trump real estate deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">His next stop was Serbia, where the Trump family is planning a new hotel on land owned by the government there.
