The couple have two teenage daughters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time,&#8221; he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dane said that he is &#8220;able to continue working&#8221; and is &#8220;looking forward to returning to the set of&#8221; HBO&#8217;s &#8220;<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/angus-cloud-dead-at-25-hbo-euphoria-star\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Euphoria<\/a><\/span>,&#8221; where he plays Cal Jacobs, next week. People magazine reported that Dane is set to begin production on season three of the drama on April 14. The brain becomes unable to control muscle movement, and people eventually lose their ability to speak, eat, move and breathe, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.als.org\/understanding-als\/what-is-als\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ALS Association<\/a>. About 1 in 300 Americans are affected by ALS, Brian Frederick, senior vice president of communication at the ALS Association, told CBS News in August 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Experts don&#8217;t know the exact cause of ALS. About 5% to 10% of cases appear to have a genetic link, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ninds.nih.gov\/health-information\/disorders\/amyotrophic-lateral-sclerosis-als\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">National Institutes of Health<\/a>. Most cases are sporadic, the NIH said. The average life expectancy with the disease is 2 to 5 years. Most patients die from respiratory failure, the NIH said. The condition has no cure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It can strike anyone at any time and is always fatal,&#8221; Frederick said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other celebrities diagnosed with ALS include former NFL player <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tim-green-als-emotional-60-minutes-interview-2019-08-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Tim Green<\/a><\/span>, singer <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/roberta-flack-has-als-now-impossible-to-sing-rep-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Roberta Flack<\/a><\/span> and Zac Brown Band star <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/john-driskell-hopkins-als-research-new-song\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">John Driskell Hopkins<\/a><\/span>.
