Many economists cautioned that the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/10\/business\/us-china-tariffs-trade-war.html\" title=\"\">full repercussions<\/a> would not be felt for weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">President Trump clarified that he had raised tariffs on Chinese goods by a total of <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/10\/business\/economy\/china-tariffs-145-percent.html\" title=\"\">145 percent<\/a>, as tensions between Beijing and Washington showed no signs of easing.
