Experts suggest the cost of those tariffs will be passed on to consumers in the grocery checkout lane.<\/p>\n<p>We examined the prices for fruits, vegetables and juices that are primarily imported from other countries, according to USDA data. The average prices are drawn from weekly surveys that the Agriculture Department conducts at hundreds of stores across the country. We&#8217;ve tracked the weekly price data from 2020 through last week.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:2449px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-Tr3dc\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/Tr3dc\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Cars and trucks<\/h2>\n<p>The cost of owning and operating a car or truck in the United States is a major focus ahead of the threatened White House <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-25-percent-car-tariffs-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">tariffs on vehicles<\/a><\/span> manufactured in other countries \u2014 a change experts predict will add thousands more to the cost of ownership, parts, repairs and insurance.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the COVID pandemic, supply-chain interruptions and the inflation that followed, the price of buying new and used cars rose sharply. So did the cost of parts, repairs and insurance.<\/p>\n<p>The charts show the price as an index \u2014 the percentage above a baseline. For new and used vehicles, we&#8217;re using an example of a small SUV to translate the percentages into dollars to explain the recent years&#8217; change.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:435px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-Uvvqs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/Uvvqs\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Used car prices spiked after the COVID pandemic because major supply chain disruptions and a global computer chip shortage severely slowed down new vehicle production. In some cases, late-model used vehicle prices soared to nearly the same as new models of the same or similar vehicles.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:435px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-un6n2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/un6n2\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some of the same phenomenon drove up the price of auto parts, and consequently, consumers&#8217; bills at repair shops.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:440px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-XFXhe\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/XFXhe\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:436px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-LBgiM\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/LBgiM\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition to the rising cost of repairs, labor shortages, driving habits and increasing crash trends have driven up the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trumps-tariffs-will-raise-car-insurance-rates-experts-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">cost of automobile insurance<\/a><\/span> premiums, aggravating the total cost of owning and operating personal cars and trucks.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div style=\"min-height:436px\" id=\"datawrapper-vis-IGytp\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/IGytp\/full.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Construction and manufacturing supplies<\/h2>\n<p>Baked into the cost of everything from homebuilding to the manufacture of durable goods like appliances are the cost of core supplies like steel and aluminum, which is also targeted by the administration&#8217;s tariffs.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div
