A National Weather Service office in Michigan <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSGaylord\/status\/1905918149939150896\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">posted<\/a> photos on social media of trees weighed down with icicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">More than a million people in parts of Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Wisconsin were under <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/wwamap\/wwatxtget.php?cwa=usa&amp;wwa=Ice%20Storm%20Warning\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">an ice storm warning<\/a> early Sunday. Up to an inch of ice was forecast to accumulate in some places,<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Officials urged residents in parts of southern Michigan not to travel. They also warned drivers to be cautious on the Mackinac Bridge, which connects Michigan\u2019s Upper Peninsula to the southern part of the state, because of icy conditions and the possibility of falling icicles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In eastern Canada, the authorities in Quebec warned of freezing rain and up to four-tenths of an inch of ice on Sunday, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">according to<\/a> Environment Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">This ice storm is producing more ice than usual, said Harold Dippman, a meteorologist at the Weather Service office in Gaylord, Mich. A typical one in the region produces one-tenth to a quarter of an inch of ice, but so far there have been reports of half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of accumulation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The storm is also lasting longer than usual. A typical one lasts six to 12 hours, Mr. Dippman said, but this storm started on Saturday evening and could last until Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">An earlier round of wintry conditions hit the region from Friday to Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Over 109,000 customers in Michigan and around 10,000 in nearby Wisconsin were without power early Sunday, according to the monitoring site <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/poweroutage.us\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">poweroutage.us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In Ontario, about 179,000 customers were without power early Sunday, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hydroone.com\/power-outages-and-safety\/stormcentre-outage-map\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">according to Hydro One,<\/a> Ontario\u2019s main power transmission company. The outages, concentrated in central and eastern Ontario, were largely caused by ice that weighed down tree branches, the company said on its website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-2\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Hydro One said power had already been restored to over
