We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>It was unclear at the time of publication whether White has accepted the position, though he shared an image of himself at the White House press briefing room podium to his Instagram story with the caption, &#8220;On to the next chapter.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reporting from at least one media outlet suggested that the post may have been made tongue-in-cheek. Zacharia was Mr. Trump&#8217;s pick to fill the role after Karoline Leavitt <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/karoline-leavitt-exiting-as-white-house-press-secretary-trump-adviser\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">stepped aside<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in August, saying she wanted to spend more time with her young family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the chief of Ultimate Fighting Championship, running a global league valued at more than $15 billion, White <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/dana-white-ufc-global-empire-and-friendship-with-president-trump-60-minutes-transcript\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">has been<\/a><\/span> a longtime supporter of Mr. Trump and attended his inauguration. The White House <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/white-house-ufc-freedom-250-fight-trump-80th-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">also hosted<\/a><\/span> an Ultimate Fighting Championship in July on the South Lawn to mark the nation&#8217;s 250th anniversary. The event coincided with Mr. Trump&#8217;s 80th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other.
