Ben\u00edtez is accused of releasing Clark from custody after accepting the bribe payments, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p> Clark was arrested days after his release and removed to the United States, where he faces drug trafficking and murder charges.<\/p>\n<p> The statement said Ben\u00edtez, 49, was arrested Sunday in Colombia. He is charged in a nine-count indictment with being an accessory after the fact. Wedding was <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/ryan-wedding-arrested-olympic-snowboarder-drug-kingpin\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">arrested<\/a><\/span> in Mexico earlier this year and flown to California, where he pleaded not guilty to murder and drug charges.<\/p>\n<p> Dozens of people have been arrested in connection with the alleged drug network and authorities seized large volumes of drugs, weapons and cash, as well as millions of dollars worth of automobiles, motorcycles, artwork and jewelry in its investigation.<\/p>\n<p> Clark&#8217;s attorney, Matthew Lombard, did not immediately respond to messages Thursday.<\/p>\n<p> After Wedding&#8217;s arrest, FBI Director Kash Patel called the former Olympian &#8220;a modern-day &#8216;<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/who-is-el-chapo-a-look-back-at-60-minutes-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">El Chapo<\/a><\/span>,'&#8221; \u2014 a reference to Joaquin Guzman, a one-time leader of the notorious Mexican drug ring known as the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/u-s-drug-raids-net-10-million-in-crypto-linked-to-notorious-mexican-sinaloa-cartel-officials-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Sinaloa Cartel<\/a><\/span> who is <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/el-chapo-jaquin-guzman-drug-cartel-kingpin-sentenced-to-prison-term-today-new-york-by-federal-judge\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">serving a life sentence<\/a><\/span> in the U.S. According to the FBI, Wedding also used aliases, including &#8220;El Jefe,&#8221; &#8220;Giant&#8221; and &#8220;Public Enemy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wedding, who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, has been accused of running a major drug trafficking network that moved cocaine from Colombia through Mexico to the U.S. and Canada. Patel <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FBIDirectorKash\/status\/2014727053224841464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a social media post<\/a>\u00a0Friday that Wedding was running his alleged operation as a member of the\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/u-s-drug-raids-net-10-million-in-crypto-linked-to-notorious-mexican-sinaloa-cartel-officials-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Sinaloa Cartel<\/a><\/span>, and that Wedding was believed to have been hiding out in Mexico for over a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Wedding was added to the
