The trains seemed twisted together, a mass of mangled metal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-sdti3 evys1bk0\">Dozens of Civil Guard officers, some wearing the white protective suits used by forensic investigators, were inspecting the scene and gathering evidence. Broken cables and fallen utility poles were scattered all around.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-sdti3 evys1bk0\">A group of Catholic priests walked out from the area where the trains were located.\u00a0\u201cWe came to pray for the dead,\u201d said the Rev. Luis Lucendo, 63, a vicar of Toledo and parish priest in Villaca\u00f1as, a nearby town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-sdti3 evys1bk0\">\u201cOne man told us that his wife had died, and I was able to make the sign of the cross over her,\u201d Father Lucendo said. \u201cThey were going to spend the day in C\u00f3rdoba, but this is where their journey ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-i9v4tq
