the police said in a statement after the arrests.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, several Palestinians and Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine were injured when a group of masked Israeli men attacked Palestinians harvesting olives in the West Bank, according to videos, eyewitnesses and Palestinian authorities.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, European officials and the Israeli military said a diplomatic convoy with representatives from France, Belgium and Poland was assaulted by masked individuals near the Palestinian village of Taybeh.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovMikeHuckabee\/status\/2112074814949319151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media post<\/a> on Monday, called the arrests &#8220;a very positive development in finding &amp; The military said it had begun dismantling an illegal Israeli settler outpost in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Violence by Israeli settlers targeting Palestinians in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/tag\/west-bank\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">West Bank<\/a> has surged in recent years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Statistics released by the United Nations humanitarian office show that it started ramping up after Netanyahu took office in 2022 at the head of <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/benjamin-netanyahu-israel-prime-minister-far-right-government\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Israel&#8217;s most far-right-wing coalition<\/a><\/span> government in modern history in late 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The attacks have intensified in the wake of the war in Gaza, and amid strong support from some members of Netanyahu&#8217;s cabinet for
