This is a much more powerful term,&#8221; Mr. Trump said. &#8220;Google wouldn&#8217;t have taken my call in the first. Now, they kiss my ass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, I also changed the name of a lake in Canada to the Lake America,&#8221; he continued, referring <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-executive-order-lake-ontario-lake-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">to Lake Ontario<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump&#8217;s self-proclaimed power is set against voter frustration with how he&#8217;s wielded it, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/u-s-set-to-impose-50-percent-tariffs-on-canada-after-failed-talks\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">with tariffs<\/a><\/span> and <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/live-updates\/iran-war-us-trump-strait-of-hormuz-yemen-houthis-saudi-arabia\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">the Iran war<\/a><\/span> driving up prices and more Americans seeing the president looking out for his own interests and not those of the country.<\/p>\n<p>With control of both chambers of Congress <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/2026-midterm-election-races\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">on the line<\/a><\/span>, and with it the prospects of Democratic-led investigations of his administration should they win, Mr. Trump has put himself at the fore for voters even as Republicans privately worry he&#8217;s a liability.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/todd-blanche-senate-vote-confirm-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">nominated<\/a><\/span> one of his personal lawyers to serve as attorney general, ordered <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/4-killed-u-s-strike-drug-boat-caribbean\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">military strikes<\/a><\/span> on accused drug-smuggling boats, is trying to put his name on <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-kennedy-center-executive-privilege-joyce-beatty-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">the Kennedy Center<\/a><\/span>, and has <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-over-1-billion-on-crypto-ventures-financial-disclosures\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">enriched himself<\/a><\/span> and his family while he&#8217;s been in office.<\/p>\n<p>While meandering through topics onstage in Kentucky, Mr. Trump touched on gas prices, saying that the war with Iran was going to end soon \u2014 an assertion he&#8217;s made many times over the course of the nearly eight-month conflict \u2014 and that gas prices will drop to lower than previously. The crowd cheered.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump rehashed his dubious promise that if Republicans win the House and the Senate, then every adult American would get $5,000. That would most likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval, while exacerbating the country&#8217;s nearly $1.8 trillion annual budget deficit.<\/p>\n<p>At Saturday&#8217;s rally, Mr. Trump added a new conditional promise for Kentucky; if Republicans win, he said, the Department of Defense would invest in revitalizing a drug manufacturing facility in the
