She was pronounced dead at the scene, despite &#8220;advanced cardiac life support measures,&#8221; the Greenville County Coroner&#8217;s Office said at the time. She was 36.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed--type-file-mp3\" data-id=\"6af9e693-8aad-443e-b773-57e2446fab90\">\n<div class=\"embed__content-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>\n                Hayden Panettiere 911 call\n            <\/p>\n<p>\n                The 911 call from the day actress Hayden Panettiere died.\n            <\/p>\n<p>            <audio controls=\"\"><source src=\"https:\/\/assets1.cbsnewsstatic.com\/hub\/cms\/prod_cms_alt\/file\/2026\/10\/14\/948ea204-3ce2-4714-96c6-3bda146711b8\/redaction2mp3.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\">Your browser does not support the audio element.<br \/>\n            <\/source><\/audio>\n        <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>An autopsy found that Panettiere&#8217;s death was accidental and ruled that the cause was the &#8220;toxic effects of&#8221; the drugs fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine.<\/p>\n<p>Zach Hickerson, who said on the 911 call that he had come over to the couple&#8217;s home after church, told the 911 operator that Panettiere did not appear to be breathing. The operator asked if they had a defibrillator, but Zach Hickerson said he didn&#8217;t know if there was one in the apartment building. In her 2026 memoir, &#8220;This Is Me: A Reckoning,&#8221; she wrote about her experience with addiction, physical abuse, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/hayden-panettiere-neutrogena-postpartum-depression-backlash\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">postpartum depression<\/a><\/span> and recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Panettiere <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/video\/hayden-panettiere-opens-up-about-growing-up-in-spotlight-there-were-no-boundaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">told CBS News&#8217; Gayle King<\/a><\/span> in May that she hoped sharing her story would help others.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really wanted to share with the world that they don&#8217;t have to be afraid.
