In a blog <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/introducing-dots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>, the company described dots as &#8220;always-on agents built to handle everything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The launch comes less than a month after <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/meta-ai-agent-muse-shopping\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Meta released Muse<\/a><\/span>, an AI agent designed to help people book travel, manage their email and perform other tasks. The product quickly racked up millions of downloads and skyrocketed to the top of the Apple App Store. Along with Muse, other AI assistants will compete, such as Google&#8217;s Gemini Spark.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The race to release personalized agents comes amid widespread concerns about the potential risks of AI. On Monday, an OpenAI safety executive said the company would\u00a0<a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\">not release its latest AI mode<\/a>l, GPT-6.1 Astra, because it &#8220;didn&#8217;t quite meet the bar of staying within scope and authorization.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Concerns over AI have swelled in response to a growing number of reports of AI agents <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/will-artificial-intelligence-really-kill-us-all\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">escaping human control<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and behaving unexpectedly. Among the most notable was the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/openai-hugging-face-hack-ai-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Hugging Face incident <\/a><\/span>over the summer, during which OpenAI agents gained internet access and hacked into an AI company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On social media, Altman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/2103567198690349362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> HuggingFace the &#8220;most severe event we&#8217;ve seen.&#8221; On Friday, OpenAI also disclosed another incident in which some of its agents accessed publicly available information on websites operated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>After an ex-Anthropic researcher <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/anthropic-researcher-jacob-coxon-ai-warning\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">warned earlier this month<\/a><\/span> that AI &#8220;could kill us all by the end of the decade,&#8221; Altman and other industry leaders have called for a slowdown in the development of
