For the uninitiated, Drake is the first rapper to sue in the wake of a rap beef, and part of the dispute was iHeartMedia\u2019s alleged boosting of radio plays influenced by alleged payments from the <a href=\"https:\/\/24hip-hop.com\/drake-claims-umg-artificially-inflated-kendrick-lamars-not-like-us-numbers-on-spotify\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Universal Media Group<\/a> (UMG).<\/p>\n<p>The legal petition was filed by Drake\u2019s legal team in November 2024 in Bexar County, Texas, and was the first step in initiating a lawsuit. The petition required company representatives from both UMG and iHeartRadio to be deposed \u2014 but now, in latest developments, it seems that iHeartRadio is in the clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased that the parties were able to reach a settlement satisfactory to both sides, and have no further comment on the matter,\u201d remarked Drake\u2019s legal team in a public statement.<\/p>\n<p>Now, fans are confused about what actually went down. The settlement, in fact, has created more questions than it has answered. Especially considering the terms of the settlement have not been made public \u2014 it\u2019s only the outcome that has come to light. Fans are wondering why Drake chose to settle for a private settlement, if he was so sure he\u2019d win.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, there are also fans that wonder why iHeartMedia would settle if they thought they had a strong case.
