Cole<\/a> has revealed the one rapper he\u2019s currently bumping outside of himself \u2014 and his answer might surprise you.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with the YouTube channel <em>Lost In Vegas<\/em> as part of his press run to promote <em>The Fall-Off<\/em>, the Dreamville rapper waxed poetic about longtime <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/wu-tang-clan\" target=\"_blank\">Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/killah-priest\" target=\"_blank\">Killah Priest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When asked which MC(s) outside of the usual Mount Rushmore candidates (<a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/jay-z\" target=\"_blank\">JAY-Z<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/nas\" target=\"_blank\">Nas<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/2pac\" target=\"_blank\">2Pac<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/the-notorious-b-i-g\" target=\"_blank\">Biggie<\/a> etc) that he\u2019s currently listening to, Cole replied: \u201cThe first answer that comes to my mind is somebody that I\u2019ve been playing the last month \u2014 this one song in particular. And it made me dive back into some of the shit he\u2019s been releasing over the years. It\u2019s gonna be hella left-field\u2026 but Killah Priest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina native admitted that until recently he wasn\u2019t intimately familiar with Priest\u2019s catalog outside of his \u201cvicious\u201d solo track <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ilXG_KN5V2g\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cB.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)\u201d<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/gza\" target=\"_blank\">GZA<\/a>\u2018s classic 1995 album <em>Liquid Swords<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was left in awe by the Brooklyn veteran\u2019s lyrical talent when he stumbled upon on his song \u201cNASA Case\u201d during his recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVJi35yjUkY\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trunk Sale Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI played this song and this shit \u2026 it\u2019s crazy. I didn\u2019t know what the fuck to expect; I just clicked [on it]. It\u2019s nine and a half minutes,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not a style that\u2019s normally the one I gravitate to. It\u2019s super dense, it\u2019s super \u2014 I\u2019m not even going to say poetic. It\u2019s prose. It\u2019s like a book, damn near. And he\u2019s telling this story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBro, I shit you not, I\u2019m listening to it and I\u2019m like, \u2018I can\u2019t exactly follow what he\u2019s talking about.\u2019 I\u2019m getting enough, though, to keep me hooked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"optanon-category-C0003\" width=\"900\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/Z35sl_4sPD8?si=FIB5kPbPWr9nCNvk\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until he sat with and studied the track that Cole fully grasped Killah Priest\u2019s rhymes, instantly converting him into a fan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI listened to that song, I shit you not, like nine times in a row because every time I listened to it again, the story got clearer and clearer,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my God! Is this n*gga an alien?!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the time I\u2019m done with my ninth listen and I see the concept he\u2019s playing with, I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my God, is this n*gga from another dimension and he knows some shit we don\u2019t know?!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIt\u2019s one of the only songs outside of my album that I\u2019m playing \u2019cause it\u2019s so enjoyable and I\u2019m so amazed with what this dude did \u2026 Shout out to Killah Priest, man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking back on some of his favorite rappers from his childhood, J.
