After over two hours of deliberations, the jury <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localmemphis.com\/article\/news\/special-reports\/young-dolph\/hernandez-govan-not-guilty-on-all-charges-killing-memphis-rapper-young-dolph\/522-284c34bc-725b-4dae-9906-0e93ecc98de7\" target=\"_blank\">found Govan not guilty<\/a> of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. After the verdict was read, Govan hugged his attorneys. Footage of the verdict being read can be seen below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"branded-app-shortcode-inarticle\">\n<div class=\"logo-wrap\" rel=\"fwef\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/townsquare.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/www.xxlmag.png?w=100\" alt=\"XXL logo\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Read More:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/late-rappers-last-social-media-posts\/\" target=\"_blank\">16 Late Rappers&#8217; Last Social Media Posts<\/a><\/h4>\n<h3>The Young Dolph Murder Case<\/h3>\n<p>Govan was one of three men charged with direct involvement in the 2021 killing of Young Dolph, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/young-dolph-shot-killed\/\" target=\"_blank\">shot and killed<\/a> inside Makeda&#8217;s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis by two masked gunmen on Nov. 17, 2021. One of the shooters, Justin Johnson, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/young-dolph-murder-suspect-justin-johnson-guilty\/\" target=\"_blank\">found guilty during his trial<\/a> last September and sentenced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/11\/01\/young-dolph-killer-sentenced-35-more-years-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\">life in prison plus 35 years<\/a>. The second shooter, Cornelius Smith, has admitted to his involvement in the murder and testified against Johnson and Govan in exchange for a reduced sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/tags\/yo-gotti\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yo Gotti<\/a>&#8216;s brother, Anthony &#8220;Big Jook&#8221; Mims, put a $100,000 bounty on Dolph due to an ongoing feud, which Govan tried to cash in on by recruiting Johnson and Smith to kill the rapper. Smith told the jury during both trials that Govan approached him and Johnson about killing Dolph and requested a $10,000 cut for setting it up.
