{"id":11753,"date":"2025-03-26T20:14:57","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T20:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/hiphopmagizine\/ye-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-nazi-support\/"},"modified":"2025-03-26T20:14:57","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T20:14:57","slug":"ye-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-nazi-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.itshrt.com\/hiphopmagizine\/ye-hit-with-copyright-lawsuit-over-nazi-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Ye Hit with Copyright Lawsuit Over Nazi Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- ItShrt Hip Hop Magizine News -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6606220950177433\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"9431463036\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/tags\/kanye-west\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ye<\/a>&#8216;s recent\u00a0run of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/kanye-west-twitter-locked-instagram-suspended\/\" target=\"_blank\">anti-Semitic Nazi support<\/a> has found him being sued for copyright infringement.<\/p>\n<h3>Ye Sued by German Singer After Using Sample She Refused to Clear<\/h3>\n<p>On Tuesday (March 25), singer-songwriter <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/7f0OLhGgBMX9fUjm1dcPip?si=PZgj4gHbRp25cGKm4oTIDg\" target=\"_blank\">Alice Merton<\/a> filed a federal lawsuit against Ye in the United States District Court of California over a sample she says the controversial rapper-producer used without permission on his 2024 song <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/6T3g6Zg8xl9voYYEkquN0Z?si=-HaP5tYlRY-rsJCXnyg_WA\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Gun to My Head&#8221;<\/a> featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Kid Cudi.\u00a0According to court documents obtained by <em>XXL<\/em>,\u00a0the German-born artist is claiming she adamantly refused to allow Ye to include vocals and elements of her 2022 song <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/3noOyWebox2Jzd1J72KDLX?si=91767b1702554b38\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Blindside&#8221;<\/a> on the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/5RV2TNyjylqWJNxQyHBTeJ?si=w4CDNUovSmS2DA84xXUxig\" target=\"_blank\">Vultures 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>track, but the controversial rapper-producer &#8220;willfully&#8221; and &#8220;maliciously&#8221; used the sample regardless.<\/p>\n<p>According to the filing, members of Alice Merton&#8217;s family are holocaust survivors of Jewish decent. With that, her lawsuit claims she\u00a0and her team made it abundantly clear upon Ye&#8217;s request to use the sample that &#8220;the artist&#8217;s values are contrary to our values.\u201d Merton\u00a0says\u00a0she was &#8220;shocked and humiliated&#8221; in December of 2023 when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/kanye-west-ty-dolla-sign-vultures-album-listening-event-las-vegas\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ye performed &#8220;Gun to My Head,&#8221; at a<i>\u00a0Vultures <\/i>listening event<\/a>, the song\u00a0which features a sample of the singer&#8217;s vocals with the lyrics, &#8220;I sat down with a gun to my head.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After &#8220;Gun to My Head&#8221; was not included on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign&#8217;s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/4DOsPwJtokv6HEifZ6t5j6?si=Kk8YuP9GSwG56g1ca1fygg\" target=\"_blank\">Vultures 1<\/a><\/em> in February of 2024, Merton also claims that Ye&#8217;s fans blamed the singer and went so far as to make &#8220;threats&#8221;\u00a0against her for not clearing the sample.
