Khalid Earns SoundExchange Hall of Fame Award.

SoundExchange today announced that Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Khalid has earned a SoundExchange Hall of Fame Award. The honor recognizes Khalid’s deep impact on the streaming era and his chart-topping hits, which have made him one of the most-streamed artists in SoundExchange’s more than 20-year history of administering digital performance royalties.

“From the beginning, Khalid has pushed boundaries with a unique blend of R&B and pop,” said Michael Huppe, President and CEO of SoundExchange. “Khalid stands out for his unique ability to connect people through his exploration of universal themes in his lyrics and music. We are honored to present him with this well-deserved award and celebrate his lasting impact across music and culture.”

Khalid kicked off the second season of SoundExchange’s RoyalTeas interview series, where he sat down to talk about his journey in the music business with host Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men.

 

 

Along with topping charts with songs like “Young Dumb & Broke” and “Location,” Khalid is a SoundExchange worldwide member, meaning SoundExchange collects royalties on his behalf from countries around the globe. Worldwide members collect and receive neighboring rights royalties through SoundExchange’s agreements with international counterpart organizations that cover 93% of the available global market.

Khalid’s latest studio album, After the Sun Goes Down, was released last October. The North American leg of his It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour kicked off in Las Vegas in mid-May and ran through late June. Khalid’s tour schedule includes Canadian stops in September and continues with an October European run and November/December Asia-Pacific dates.
