Quality Control Cofounder Pierre ‘P’ Thomas Hospitalized

Pierre “P” Thomas, co-founder of Quality Control Music, is currently hospitalized after reportedly suffering a heart attack at the age of 45.

On Friday (Aug. 21), P was rushed to the ICU at a Las Vegas hospital amid the medical emergency, according to a report from TMZ. XXL has confirmed with his team that he remains hospitalized as of this writing.

“We want to clarify that Pierre ‘P’ Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care,” his rep said in a statement to XXL. “We ask that everyone keep P and his family in their thoughts and prayers and respectfully give them the privacy and space they need during this time.”

The statement continued: “We deeply appreciate everyone’s concern, support, prayers, and loving energy right now.”

Founding the Atlanta-based Quality Control Music alongside Kevin “Coach K” Lee in 2013, P has been instrumental in shaping the careers of the likes of Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, the City Girls and more over the years.

The label signed a $320 million deal with Hybe America in 2023 in a global partnership facilitated by music industry veteran Scooter Braun. P and Coach maintain control of the label in the deal and have been expanding its label, marketing, branding, A&R, sports management and film divisions.

When asked what he wants QC’s legacy to be remembered as in the winter 2023 issue of XXL, P said, “That we was a Black company that came in this business with a lot of doors closed on us. And we overcame a lot of adversity and developed some of the biggest superstars of our time.”
