Hip Hop Producer (image #3)
Another promo shot of Keith ‘Clizark’ Clark, but this time taking it old-school.
Shot this with a Yashica-Mat 120 format twin-lens reflex camera. While part of the roll was just the standard thing I’d been shooting, I decided to get some motion-blur/flash-freeze look. So I kept the flash set up I had going, but then slowed the shutter down to 1/15th to pick up the ambient in the warehouse. I wiggled the camera while he stood still, which gives the extreme ghosting plus the frozen flash moment.
strobist info: Nikon SB-28 through homemade bazooka-snoot (cardboard oatmeal canister with oatmeal lid used half way along inside for a diffuser, provides a round circle of light like a wide spot). Camera left and high up. Sunpak 333 in background, providing a slash of blue light (blue gel) on wall. Unlike a previous shot, I didn’t have the SB-20 as a side kicker, as I’d turned it off.
You can read more about the session, and see other images (including a set up shot) here.
