Title: Perfect replacement for the original
Review: Thank you for everybody who left detailed reviews on how to install this. Getting the old one off was a bit of a chore, had to cut one end of the original lift off the metal with a hack saw. CAREFULLY of course. Getting the replacement on was super simple with the C-clamp. While some may see getting the old one off and the new one on as a negative, I couldn’t be happier knowing that this will NOT fall apart and open up while driving 70 MPH along the interstate with this thing strapped to the top of the vehicle.

Title: Great product
Review: My cargo box arm snapped off unexpectedly. I had a trip coming up and really needed a replacement to give the box the support it needs when opening and closing it. I bought two of them so I have an extra. Little hard popping off the broken one and then hammering the new one back on. Found a YouTube video telling me exactly what to do and it worked like a charm. So thankful and the cost was totally affordable. Fits and operates perfectly.

Equally strong and comparable to original.2 toolsFlathead screw driverC-clamp (3 dollars from harbor freight)Use the flat head to remove the old lifter/hinge. Just insert (between lifter and where it pops into) and twist the screwdriver and it’ll pop off.Next position the lifter on the mounting point, position the c-clamp on it and on the shell of the roofbox, and tighten the c clamp until it pops on. I used a microfiber towel between the clamp and the shell.Good as new.

Title: Works like a charm
Review: The easiest way to install this is with the cargo carrier on your car (as long as you dont’ have it on an SUV that’s really high) because the roof rack will hold the cargo carrier steady. Pry the broken hinge off with a flat-head screwdriver from the two metal knobs inside the carrier (that mate with the sockets in the hinge). Add a small amount of lubricant to the metal knobs. Use a deep throated C-Clamp to press the new hinge onto each of the two knobs. Voila. Done. Easy-peasy. Took me 10 minutes.

Review: I purchased because one of my lifter was snapping off the bracket easily and the second one was becoming weaker. These fit perfectly and are strong. I installed them on my Thule Atlantis 1600 but they would fit on almost any 2 sided box from Thule.

Review: One day I opened my cargo box and 1 of the hinges just exploded. Perfect replacement part. I would order a pair instead of 1 because the replacement part has much less tension than the original, so when opening the box the original side flings open when the lid has reached a certain angle. I prefer the replacement part as it is a smoother operation. When closing the lid the original side has too much tension compared to the replacement causing it to close unevenly, Not a big deal. Check out the video I attached. I ordered a 2nd one to match the spring tension. I’m guessing they have updated parts with less spring tension to prevent them from exploding like what happened to mine. For removal, I used a small pry bar. And for installation, I used silicone with a rubber mallet.
